The challenge
Product teams evaluating Astra needed more than a static interface or desktop-style demo. They needed evidence that the platform could run a modern, responsive embedded HMI with multimedia behaviour, live content and production-relevant interaction patterns.
Engineering approach
Crossware enabled Flutter execution on the GRINN Astra platform and used a connected Internet Radio application as the validation workload. The work combined runtime integration, application deployment, audio handling, networking and UI performance in one demonstrator.
A realistic validation application
The radio HMI supports station discovery by list, genre and country, now-playing information, volume control, remote imagery, runtime settings and theming. Unlike a scripted design mock-up, it exercises the interaction between application code, remote content, graphics and audio services on the embedded target.
Delivered capabilities
- Flutter runtime enablement and repeatable application deployment on Astra
- Station browsing and rich content presentation
- Audio playback, volume control and synchronized now-playing state
- Remote content loading, imagery, settings and theming
- A reusable platform baseline for connected HMI prototypes
Beyond the demonstrator
The same baseline can support product-specific control surfaces, EV charging interfaces and connected device applications. Concept work for an EV charging journey also demonstrated how the platform can move from multimedia validation to guided transactional HMIs. The charging flow is a product concept; the Internet Radio application is the validated demonstrator.
Outcome
The project gives product owners and system integrators a credible reference for Flutter on Astra and reduces the uncertainty between platform selection and the first working product application.
